We were honored to see the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA), which is an agency of the U.S. Department off Commerce, feature their $2.5 million grant to Operation HOPE as a national ‘Success Story’ in their recent EDA Newsletter.  Assistant Secretary, Jay Williams, stopped by HOPE Inside Regions Bank in Birmingham, Alabama earlier this week  to gain small business insight from HOPE’s Entrepreneur Training Program graduates. The  program graduates were thrilled to share their stories of success with an appointee of President Barack Obama.

Owner of Love Before Furniture & Decor, Emmett Davis, shared why he began taking Operation HOPE’s 12-week Entrepreneur Training Program:

“After we started making a profit, we quickly realized that we didn’t know how to manage our profits. I was selling myself short.  At the classes, I saw some things I was doing wrong.”

Since starting the course, the profits of his furniture service company have increased dramatically. His business has booked appointments through May, whereas before he was never booked more than two weeks in advance.

Regions Bank partners with Operation HOPE by supporting HOPE Inside, a free program that helps clients learn financial literacy, especially by raising their credit score or helping them obtain a mortgage. HOPE Inside centers are available and FREE to anyone who wants to take control of their finances.
