This year, Operation HOPE’s Youth Empowerment Group in Atlanta will collaborate with multiple schools in the Douglas County School System. Although approximately 20 miles from the city of Atlanta, Douglas County holds a well-deserved reputation of supporting their community. Through the support of Douglas County’s School System, the Youth Empowerment Group impacted over 950 students from Lithia Springs Elementary School, Beulah Elementary School, Cornerstone Baptist Church, Lithia Spring High School, and New Manchester High School last year! We are exceptionally thankful for the support of community volunteers from Beal Bank, GEMC Federal Credit Union, and National Association Black Accountants (NABA) and individuals who graciously contributed their time.
Banking On Our Future is a financial literacy program for youth that covers the basics of budgeting, banking, credit, savings and investing. Students are taught vital financial habits, leaving them with powerful aspirations of hope, and the tools necessary to successfully manage their financial futures. Students at Turner Middle School and New Manchester High School have been selected to participate in HOPE Business In a Box Academies, which allow students to pitch their business ideas and win $500 in start-up grant money. The Atlanta Youth Empowerment Program is dedicated to serving students outside of the perimeter, and thrilled to help bridge the gap between the banking industry and student community!
If you would like to become a volunteer, please sign up and attend our mandatory Volunteer Orientation Session.
