On Tuesday November 15th, 2011 a group of NYSE Euronext volunteers taught Financial Literacy at Park East High School in New York City using Operation HOPE’s Banking on Our Future curriculum. The effort was driven by NYSE Euronext CEO Duncan Niedermaier, who has been a longtime supporter of Operation HOPE.
Mr. Niedermaier has taken the lead and become a vocal proponent of corporate community involvement and a strong advocate for the need to increase financial literacy education throughout America.
Nearly 150 Students, who attended the workshop were for the first time educated and empowered to take control of their financial lives. This very committed group of volunteers shared their life experiences, career goals and offered guidance on how to build a successful future.
The students benefited greatly because of the volunteers generous spirit, willingness and preparedness.
The students all appreciated the instruction, offering comments such as, “I know I need to save my money” and “Now I understand how to make better use of the money I earn.”
Principal McCarthy and Assistant Principal Edmonds were both delighted to have the NYSE Euronext at their school and enthusiastically invited them and Operation HOPE to return.
