READING, Pa. – May 8, 2017 – Fulton Bank hosted a grand opening celebration today to officially welcome a HOPE Inside office to its downtown Reading Branch. HOPE Inside is a unique empowerment model that brings Operation HOPE’s core financial dignity programming to low- and middle-income individuals and families at no cost to the client.
Through the HOPE Inside program, an Operation HOPE financial wellbeing coach will support clients with the fundamentals to build their own businesses, raise their credit scores, buy homes, or simply make better decisions with the money they have.
“We’re proud to partner with Operation HOPE to provide these life-changing financial literacy services in support of the Reading community,” said Phil Wenger, chairman, president and CEO of Fulton Financial Corporation, the parent company of Fulton Bank. “There are many people in Reading who want to realize the dream of homeownership, open a business or simply make their money go further. Through the HOPE Inside Program, they will have access to credit and money management counseling and other services, empowering them to achieve financial success.”
Fulton first announced a partnership with Operation HOPE in September of 2016. The partnership is part of the Fulton ForwardTM initiative, which helps to advance underserved communities by promoting affordable housing, financial literacy, and economic development in low- to moderate-income communities. HOPE Inside Fulton Bank Reading is Operation HOPE’s first location in Pennsylvania.
“We are grateful to Fulton Bank for their support as a strategic partner to open a new installation of HOPE Inside,” said John Hope Bryant, founder, chairman, and CEO of Operation HOPE. “We look forward to impacting the Reading community by equipping people with the financial tools and training required to realize their aspoirations and ensure their financial wellbeing.”
The HOPE Inside model has allowed private financial institutions to scale, and sustainably package and deliver, financial literacy and empowerment programming, free to the client. HOPE Inside had its genesis in bank branches, but widespread market adoption continues to bring sponsored offices to government facilities, grocery stores, hospitals, and other community locations as well. Today, there are more than 60 existing locations across the nation, and commitments for more than 250 new offices within the next 18 months.
Along with the HOPE Inside program, Fulton is also partnering with Operation HOPE to administer its Closing Cost Assistance Program, which offers eligible homebuyers up to $2,500 toward closing costs.

About Operation HOPE
Since 1992, Operation HOPE has been moving America from civil rights to “silver rights” with the mission of making free enterprise and capitalism work for the underserved. Through its core programs, the nonprofit has provided financial dignity and economic empowerment to over 2.8 million individuals worldwide, and $2.4 billion in economic activity for the disenfranchised—turning check cashing customers into banking customers, renters into homeowners, small business dreamers into small business owners and minimum wage workers into living wage consumers. Project 5117 is HOPE’s multi-year four-pronged approach to combating economic inequality that aims to improve financial literacy, increase business role models and business internships for youth, and stabilize the American dream by boosting credit scores. Operation HOPE recently received its second consecutive 4-star charity rating for fiscal management and commitment to transparency and accountability by the prestigious non-profit evaluator, Charity Navigator—further establishing it as a best-in-class organization.
