The summer holidays don’t necessarily mean a break from learning and preparing for the future. With the help from both local and national partners, Operation HOPE extends its financial literacy curriculum throughout summer vacation to reach a variety of students and organizations.
Twelve students from Penn State University and Overbrook High School from Philly recently participated in Operation HOPE’s Banking On Our Future summer orientation, a program intended to teach youth about the importance of managing their money responsibly. The orientation was hosted by Operation HOPE Philadelphia’s partner, Change 4 A Dollar (C4D), in a collaboration intended to provide youth financial education to C4D’s Investment Camp participants. Led by volunteer teachers, the nine week summer program will incorporate BOOF curriculum that covers important lessons in saving, banking, and investment.
While summer break is a time for fun and relaxation, responsible financial management never ceases to be a daily consideration for those who live their lives responsibly. Operation HOPE’s Banking on Our Future strives to emphasize this important facet of a dignified life regardless of the season.
