On February 17th and 24th Elory Fortune, Operation HOPE South Africa, Western Cape Program Manager conducted two volunteer training sessions in an effort to broaden the BOOF HOPE Corps efforts in the Western Cape.
Over 30 adults from The Volunteer Centre in Claremont were trained and will be assigned to teach BOOF session in the near future. Elroy introduced the Operation HOPE Programme to the participants during BOOF in a day at the Volunteer Centre and utilized HOPE’s new BOOF curriculum training aids to help in his presentation.
The Volunteer Centre displayed a poster “Volunteer S.A. – Ma Volunteer in Action, Let’s Build a Nation that cares” as part of their marketing campaign to recruit more volunteers. The Volunteers enjoyed the modules tremendously. 15 of the 17 participants signed up as Hope Corps Volunteers that day! They have yet to be deployed at schools in the areas in which they reside but will be once they complete other volunteer assignments.
