HOPE Partner, Neighborhood Trust Financial Partners, Graduates First Cohort in the ‘Getting Ahead’ Program

On May 3, Neighborhood Trust Financial Partners (NTFP), in conjunction with Operation HOPE, graduated 19 participates of the inaugural “Getting Ahead” program.  

The program was 5-weeks in duration and was conducted every Thursday from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at the Harlem HOPE Center. The course was designed to provide participants with the tools and support to take control of their financial future and focused on the following topics:

1. Our financial lives and goals
2. Using financial services wisely
3. Saving by spending less
4. Managing debt and building credit
5. Stepping out with a financial plan.

In addition to group counseling, each participants had the opportunity to have a one-on-one counseling session with the financial advisor and upon completion of the course take advantage of an opportunity to open a free checking and savings account.

As part of our collaboration with NTFP, they will facilitate outreach efforts to program graduates 3 to 6 months after graduation, conduct a randomized follow-up outreach 1 to 2 years thereafter and share the results with HOPE. The staff at HOPE and the program graduates would like to extend a very special thank you to Jennifer Velasquez, Financial Advisor, NTFP,  for doing a fantastic job in teaching and empowering the class to stay the course and take control of their financial future.
