A Story of HOPE From New Jersey

Dear Operation HOPE New York,

I am writing this in reference to one of your employees, Samuel Saunders. I just wanted you to know that he is an Angel and an asset to your organization. My home was devastated by Hurricane Irene in August 2011. I had 4 ½ feet of water rushing through my first floor taking everything that I had worked very hard to acquire taking things that I also could never replace. When that had finished we had an oil spill on top of it all. The oil flowed into the water and yet again my home was devastated by oil. Just a few things so that you know a little about the events that made me call this number (Hope).Myself and family ended up in a hotel room. How heartbreaking to watch my 7 year old go to school on the first day back from summer break from a hotel room stay. Then knowing it was only a few days before our home was devastated by the hurricane. Just thinking about it makes me want to cry all over again.

Through all of this it become very overwhelming. The depression and violation that I felt was just UN comprehendible. My finances are a complete mess; My Home owner Insurance dropped me. I could just go on. I have been working with Samuel just to keep my head clear on what it is I may need to do next. He has been a fantastic shoulder. I don’t think that he could possibly understand what it means to me and my family; that we have someone advising us in this current situation. He has given me phone numbers along with resources to do research. I am currently having a few Insurance issues that I am dealing with amongst many other things. I was advised on this issue also by Samuel Saunders. His advice is helping me now and will continue to help me in the future on this issue. I could just keep going. I will end it with he has done so much that takes it above and beyond. He has initiated three way calls with me to the Loss Draft department at my Bank. We are trying to get them to Modify my Mortgage. I am currently paying a higher Mortgage amount since before my flood and my homes Insurance has skyrocketed. It is a very long situation.  I am currently still not able to live in my home.

I look forward to the help of Samuel Saunders he always knows what to do next. He is always kind, pleasant and willing to listen. We need more people like him in this world. It’s sad when the people you call only after becoming a victim of an unforeseen circumstance make you feel like they have know time to listen. If you could pass this as far for me and my family as you can, I would greatly appreciate it. People are very quick to sit down and write all that was wrong with a person. I wanted to sit down and write all that was great. You truly have an Angel in him. Thank you for making the Sun Shine on a gray day. I look forward to working with him on my journey home.

Thank you

Ed and Maria Steiper
