Operation HOPE & Financial Beginnings host Unraveling the Mysteries of Your Money

Have you ever had a burning question around money and didn’t know who to ask?  Many of us do and moving forward without this vital information is dangerous.

That is why Operation HOPE and Financial Beginnings hosted our second annual Unraveling the Mysteries of Your Money on the evening of April 24th.

The event brought financial experts from around Oregon together for the sole purpose of answering the public’s questions around money.  The following experts served on the panel.

Moderator

  • Brent Hunsberger, Its Only Money columnist at the Oregonian Newspaper

Panelists

  • Carl Burnham, Managing Partner of Deschutes Wealth Management
  • Silvia Clever, Senior VP of Consumer Market Manager at Bank of America
  • Jim Hunt, Chief Financial Officer at OnPoint Community Credit Union
  • Michael Parker, Executive Director of the Oregon College Savings Plan
  • Nelson Rutherford, Managing Partner at Alten, Sakai & Co

Questions ranged from long-term retirement planning, new bank regulations, College 529 stipulations and many more.  Participants walked away from the event with a better set of skills and information that will help them manage their financial future.

One participant said, “Thanks to you and the panel that were present for the questions last night.  I appreciate all of you giving up an evening to help people.  It helps me believe there still may be hope.  The Enron collapse (which effected me) and the sub prime nightmare have soured me on the financial industry.  I saw a glimmer of hope last night in some people that seemed to care.  Thanks to all.”
