Operation HOPE’s Global Chief of Financial Literacy Mary Hagerty Ehrsam on Tuesday led a plenary discussion on innovations for reaching vulnerable children and youth at the Child & Youth Finance International (CYFI) Summit in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
Ehrsam, who serves on the Supervisory Board for CYFI , discussed with fellow panelists, Street Kids International, ICS, MEDA, and the Habitat Center in Turkey, how to empower a child whose socio-economic, demographic, physical, phycological, and emotional conditions make it seemingly impossible. Among the many potential solutions and action items discussed was the implementation of legal entrepreneurship and income generating activities for youth including HOPE’s Business in a Box.
Child & Youth Finance International, founded and lead by Managing Director and financial literacy pioneer Jeroo Billimoria, is a global multi-stakeholder Initiative whose mission is to ensure that children and youth have access to safe, trustworthy, financial services, and that they have the skills, knowledge and opportunities required to use those services responsibly.
Operation HOPE serves as a strategic partner with CYFI. The Summit was attended by over 300 participants including 70 youth from 60 countries primarily in the developing world.
