Esther Stearns Family Foundation Donates $25,000 to HOPE Business-In-A-Box

Operation HOPE National Board Member, Esther M. Stearns, through the Esther Stearns Family Foundation has donated $25,000 to support the HOPE Business-In-A-Box pilot program in Atlanta, GA.

This fantastic contribution will fund 200 HOPE Business-In-A-Box youth entrepreneurship grants at 7 schools in southwest Atlanta school districts.

Ms. Stearn’s commitment to entrepreneurship is clear.

I believe in the importance entrepreneurs play in our country and our economy.  The leaders of this program can help young people develop their capability and belief in themselves.

Esther joined the HOPE National Board of Directors in 2011, and she is currently the President and COO of LPL Financial.

HOPE Business In-A-Box (HBIAB) consists of several easy to start, fund, and operate small businesses designed for and around the capabilities of youth to develop their entrepreneurial spirit and interest in self-empowerment.  HBIAB is designed for 4th – 12th grade students (8 to 18 year olds).  The initiative can be funded and activated at the $50, $100, $250 and $500 start-up capital levels.  Additionally, it will teach basic entrepreneurial skills, as well as the language of money and dignity through our Banking on Our Future Program (BOOF) and a course in dignity.

Esther will join Operation HOPE as our special guest on April 17th when we announce HBIAB at A Conversation on Leadership: How We Win the Future – it’s up to you!

This event will be an intimate conversation with Jim Clifton, CEO of GALLUP, Inc., John Hope Bryant, Ambassador Andrew Young and 30 high school students from Washington High School – Atlanta’s school of banking, finance, and investments.  The conversation will focus on entrepreneurship, job creation and how we win the future, as well as the pivotal role today’s youth play in America’s future success.

Esther’s presence and contribution will help us continue forward with the SILVER RIGHTS movement at the historic High School of the leader of the CIVIL RIGHTS movement Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Thank you so much Esther!
