On Sunday, December 4th, following a spirited church service at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia, Operation HOPE conducted its first Credit and Money Management Workshop at the church, presenting to an audience of 72 churchgoers.
Patrice C. Washington, the financial management consultant at our HOPE Express office in Atlanta, started the workshop. She shared strategies for “living by percentages” while challenging the audience to examine their mindset towards money. Workshop participants were encouraged to recalibrate their thoughts while considering the modeling, specific incidents, and verbal influences even from childhood that may be affecting their financial behaviors as adults.
Patrice was followed by Walter Jackson, who serves as the vice president of Atlanta’s HOPE Financial Dignity Center, currently under construction. Walter focused on credit and spoke to the audience about the “credit equation” as well as consumer rights and how to dispute fraudulent items.
A dialog ensued with in depth questions and answers to ensure that those in attendance left with tangible information to begin changing their associations and creating a financial success pathway restoring their dignity.
