Our Atlanta office co-hosted a press conference on Monday with the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church to announce the opening of the HOPE Express Office on location at Ebenezer.
HOPE Express will immediately begin to offer a variety of financial empowerment services to the local community while the flagship HOPE Center, to be housed at the Martin Luther King, Sr. Community Resource Facility at Ebenezer, remains under construction until early 2012.
Nearly 100 distinguished members of the community gathered to show their support for what has been dubbed “the new beacon of HOPE” in Atlanta. Among those to welcome HOPE Express were Operation HOPE Founder, Chairman and CEO John Hope Bryant, HOPE Global Spokesperson Ambassador Andrew Young, Ebenezer Baptist Church Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Raphael Warnock; Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed; Fulton County Board Commissioners Chairman John Eaves; Atlanta District 2 City Councilman Kwanza Hall; Financial Services Roundtable President and CEO Steve Bartlett; and daughter of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Be A King Enterprises, LLC Founder Rev. Dr. Bernice King.
King called the work of Operation HOPE and the resurrection of the HOPE Center a “continuation of her father’s Poor People’s Campaign.”
“The closer and more convenient the services, the faster we can change the paradigm,” affirmed Councilman Hall, speaking of the immediate need for this type of service in Atlanta.
Walter Jackson, the newly appointed Vice President of the Atlanta HOPE Center, echoed the councilman’s remarks, asserting that “the HOPE Express Atlanta team is indeed ready to hit the ground running and create a substantial change throughout Metro Atlanta.”
